Simon Says Stamp Wake Up and Makeup – Blossoms and Butterflies Release
There’s a new release from Simon Says Stamp called Blossoms and Butterflies, and I received a new set to play with called Wake Up and Makeup!
If you know me, you know I don’t wear makeup. Like, at all. I used to, back in the day when I worked in the corporate world, and occasionally since then, but mostly, I don’t bother. I work at home, my husband doesn’t really care one way or another, and so I save my money. But I have two daughters who are really into it, so this set will at least come in handy for cards for them. I had a couple ideas for this set. Lookie:
GOJUS! I wanted to do things that maybe weren’t obvious, and I think I succeeded.
For this card, I grabbed an alcohol ink background that I had already made. I stamped the nail polish bottle with Simon’s Intense Black 6 times on Neenah Solar White paper, and I carefully cut out the bottle and colored the caps. When I layered it over the alcohol background, it was so cool! It was hard to choose which spot to center it over because there were so many cool areas. I used some acetate under the polish bottle piece and some foam tape to create a shaker box, which I filled with Simon’s Moonlight Confetti sequins. I stamped the greeting using Simon’s Clear Embossing and Watermark ink and used Altenew’s Razzleberry Crisp EP.
For this card, I made a card with three colors of Altenew Embossing Powders, Caribbean Sky, Razzleberry Crisp, and Golden Peach. I wanted it to look like the makeup spilled on the card. I stamped the makeup brushes and little makeup squares (don’t ask me what they are called!) and colored those with Copic markers. I added some clear Wink of Stella over the squares to make them look shimmery. I spilled the embossing powder on a piece of cardstock and heated it carefully underneath so it would not blow all over the place. I also put a bit on the brush ends of the brushes. I love how this one turned out!
These both turned out really cute, and one of my makeup-loving daughters wanted to grab both of them to send to friends!
