Fab Friday 135 – Simon Says Stamp/CZ Designs Emphatic & Picture Book Croc
I’ve got a lot of new stuff to play with, but it seems like I can’t play fast enough before there is a new release to drool over! So since Simon Says Stamp just came out with a new release yesterday, I thought I’d better go ahead and use some of the stuff I got from the last release, including the really edgy Simon Says Stamp/CZ Design Emphatic set (which my brain keeps wanting to call Empathic!) with Simon’s stinkin’ cute Picture Book Croc to make a really fun card. Lookie:
STINKIN’ CUTE! I love this croc (did you know you can tell an alligator from a crocodile because crocs do not have tongues?), and I couldn’t resist him.
I paper pieced him from some Simon card stock. I made him looked surprised by dropping his mouth open and adding a couple of tiny google eyes. I also gave him a tiny black and white washi tape bow tie, which just took him to the next level.
I spent some serious time lining these words up perfectly in my MISTI, stamped with Versafine Onyx Black, and heat embossed. I ended up adding the hash tag at the very end because the bare spot there just bugged the crap out of me. Three little Doodlebug green Sprinkles added a nice touch of green, making a nice accent or maybe a bleeped-out word, LOL! Only the croc knows for sure!
I’m particularly proud of this black background, which I made by taking the new Line Dance stencil from Simon, putting it over a black piece of card stock, mushing my Versmark pad all over, and then heat embossing with Clear EP. The result is so cool and mod, but also reminds me of alligator skin in a way. There’s a challenge up on the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge blog called Add Some Texture, and this is going to be my entry. The striped banner behind the white piece is a paper from MFT Stamps’ Dots & Stripes Fresh 6 x 6 pad, which I’m sorry to say is retired. I used the Stampin’ Up! Banner Triple punch to create the shape.
I love how really clean and graphic looking this card is!

Buying through these links costs you nothing extra and helps support my blog and my artistic endeavors, and I thank you.If you’re reading this in an email, you’ll have to click TWICE on the links below, once to get to the LinkDeli site and again to get to the shop of your choice.
