Paper Crafts Crew 251 – Concord and 9th Globe Greetings with Oh Hello Turnabout

Welcome back to the Paper Crafts Crew Challenge! This week we have a theme challenge:

Oh, this was SO HARD for me. I NEVER have unused stamps or new things I haven’t used!

Okay, I am being highly sarcastic here. I ALWAYS have these things! Smiley from Millan.Net

For this challenge, though, I decided to go ahead and blog a card I made with new stamps I got a while ago and used immediately, but I did not blog this card because (wait for it….)

I actually sent it to someone!

My youngest niece and her husband, actually, had their second child, and so I made this card for them. I wanted to wait to blog it until I knew they had gotten the card, and they got it yesterday since they were off on vacation when it arrived. Lookie:

GOJUS! Not the usual card for a baby, but my niece and her husband are scientists, so I thought they would enjoy this more than the usual. I had so much fun playing with this new Turnabout stamp from Concord and 9th,with which I created this cool background! I made it first. You absolutely need a MISTI tool to use these stamps.

I also had a blast stamping with the Globe Greetings as well. After I figured out where I wanted to put the globe, I stamped the stand over the background. I then stamped the globe on another piece of Neenah Solar White and used the matching Globe die. I decided that I would pop it up on a piece of craft foam, so I cut a piece out using the same die. The problem with that is that when you die cut craft foam it SQUISHES and ends up bigger. So I ended up having to trim around it anyway.

I decided to keep the card fairly monochromatic. I stamped the globe with Simon Deep Sea and Spring Rain and did some sponging on the edge after I cut it out with High Dive. I actually did a lot of sponging on this card, something I have gotten out of the habit of doing, but it looked good here. I stamped “Welcome to the World” with Versamark ink and embossed it with Hero Arts White EP.

I dug this long-retired Stampin’ Up! set, Rough Type, to stamp my grand-niece’s name, Amina, and punched it out the letters with a half-inch circle punch. I popped them up with foam tabs.

I used some retired Stampin’ Up! baker’s twine to create  nice accent that helped to balance out the top of the card.

I wanted some matching accents, and I didn’t have anything in these colors, so I ended up taking some white Sprinkles from Doodlebug Design and coloring them with a Copic marker. They ended up kind of marbled looking, which actually looked cool and MEANT. Love when that happens!

So cool, and my niece LOVED it!
