Penny Black – Happy Bliss

Penny Black – Happy Bliss

I made this card awhile back and just haven't had a chance to post it. I dunno, kitchen renovation, trying to get my youngest in line to graduate (not a sure thing at this point), supporting my oldest in her job hunt and getting her car fixed after someone hit it on the street outside our house and ran away, trying to arrange doctors' appointments for people, and working. Yeah, just a bit busy. But I was able to snatch a few moments so here it is! Lookie:

GOJUS! I decided to pull out my neglected Zig Kuretake Gamsai watercolor paints for this card.

This particular greeting is an old one from Hero Arts which I thought was perfect with this image.

To make watercolored images sparke, you need to leave white places, called "saved whites". So I very carefully did not paint everything around the flowers. I also kept the painting loose because I like that look with this image.

Since I painted the background blue, I had to come up with different colors for the birds, so I chose reddish brown. I added some Pretty Pink Posh sparkling sequins to help with the visual triangle and to keep it more casual. I couldn't really add any other embellishments because of the size of the image and just because it didn't need anything.

I popped the entire watercolor piece up with white fun foam. I love the way it turned out!

Below is my list of products that I used, and I have used compensated affiliate links where they were available, as I now participate in affiliate programs for Simon Says Stamp, Amazon, Ellen Hutson LLC,, Gina K, Sizzix, and Blick Art Supplies. Buying through these links costs you nothing extra and helps support my blog and my artistic endeavors, and I thank you. Stampin' Up! links lead to their website, and you can either check out through your favorite demonstrator or as a guest.

Enjoy! Ta!
