Fab Friday 108 – Taylored Expressions Lucky Charms
Welcome back to the Fab Friday challenge over at the Fab Friday Challenge Blog!

And welcome back to me after over a week of silence! On March 8th, the wind took out our electricity, or at least took it down to a very low voltage. And it stayed that way until March 13th! On top of that, I caught the flu, and I was down for the count until yesterday. It's been a heck of a week! I did manage to play with some of my toys at my church's annual craft event on Saturday, but most of the rest of the time was spent in multiple layers of clothing, huddled in bed trying to stay warm (it also got down in the teens and twenties outside so it got down to 44 degrees in my house at one point), or going ANYWHERE where we could get warm and charge our devices faster than we could on the meager voltage trickling through. I couldn't work either. It SUCKED.

So last night, I managed to stay up ALL night and make this card (shhh…it felt good, and I'm a night owl at this time of my life anyway).

This week we have a color challenge:

These colors are very Easterish, so I went back to this charming little set, which I used to make a St. Patrick's Day card a few weeks ago, Taylored Expressions Lucky Charms. Lookie:

STINKIN' Cute! I have had the idea for these dancing eggs for a while, and this color combination seemed a great chance!

I used Copics to color the eggs, and it was fun to change up the combination so they each looked different. The bad thing was they look a LEETLE like Mexican eggs with these colors, and I was afraid it would turn out to be a Huevos Rancheros card, but the pastel of the patterned paper from Doodlebug Design helped pull them back from the edge. I fussy cut them out with scissors and popped them up over the white card stock which was stamped with the eggs as well. One reason was the Copics ran a bit over the lines, and the other was I just like this look better than using the dies included in this set.

This Sunrise Border die from Simon Says Stamp also reminds me of bunting, and so that's how I used it. I did some stitching on the circles with white gel pen.

I liked that the paper was pale enough and not busy so that I could stamp the greeting right on it. I stamped it again on Calypso Coral card stock and popped it up. A couple little enamel accents in the Peekaboo Peach shade help with the visual triangle.

I wanted an accent of some kind, and I had some of this retired Mint Macaron lace. Tying it in a nice little bow and putting it just there really worked, though I didn't think it would.

It really turned out just as I thought it might!

Below is my list of products that I used, and I have used compensated affiliate links where they were available, as I now participate in affiliate programs for Simon Says Stamp, Amazon, Ellen Hutson LLC, Scrapbook.com, Gina K, Sizzix, and Blick Art Supplies. Buying through these links costs you nothing extra and helps support my blog and my artistic endeavors, and I thank you. Stampin' Up! links lead to their website, where you can check out with your favorite demonstrator or choose to check out with a guest.
