Bear Ware with All Inside – Essentials by Ellen
I was so excited to see the new Bear Ware set with the matching dies from Ellen Hutson. I felt that the bear from All Inside really needed more stuff to put in his cute little arms, and there are a PLETHORA (I love that word and don't get to use it often enough) of things for the bear to hold in this new set. Natch, it went right on the list of things I HAD TO HAVE NOW.
I decided to start off with the fishing rod and fish because of the many "dates" I went on when I was going out with my husband. I call them "dates" in quotation marks because we almost always ended up bickering at some point. He always wanted to stay out longer in the boat than I did. I didn't like baiting hooks or touching fish, and I'm not fond of eating them (lake fish taste like lake water, and I've swallowed enough of it accidentally to know) and definitely not fond of cleaning them. He did most of that for me, but it didn't reduce the fact that I got bored after an hour, and he could happily stay out there for much longer. Plus…er…when a guy is out in a boat, when he needs to perform a certain bodily function, he really doesn't have to go through what a woman does. And even if you can get your boyfriend to take you to shore to do that, there usually is not a bathroom there and you have to find a secluded spot and then deal with it. No fun. Plus the bugs. OMG, the BUGS. Nope. Nope, nope, nope.
So all in all, I couldn't see the point of fishing. However, he loved going so, since I loved him, I went along. And he's definitely a keeper. Lookie:
I colored the bear with Copics. At the time, I didn't have the matching dies for the Bear Ware so I cut out the fishing rod and fish by hand, but I would HIGHLY recommend the matching dies, which I have gotten since I did this card. For the fishing rod, I decided to make it match what was behind it so it looked more natural, and I loved the way it turned out!
I decided to add a sunrise to the card, because it goes with the whole fishing theme. If you like to fish (or love someone who does) you know that the best fishing happens before the sun even is up. I went out at 5:00 freaking AM with my husband so I KNOW!
I created the sunset with the new Silver Linings die from this release and distress inks.
I added the splashes using My Favorite Things Distressed Patterns set because fishing is a wet and messy business. Plus it helped break up the stark whiteness of the card front. To balance the card, I added some Doodlebug Sprinkles from the Primary assortment.
I love it (and I hope my husband does too, since I'm giving this to him!)
